Community Corner

food for thought

I think this was info provided by the Bangor police chief if I am not mistaken. He said that there is an average of 18 calls to the casino per month. If that is the case, that is 216 calls a year to a single location. That is a significant amount of trips to one place. Also that is only calls to the casino, not around the casino. I imagine the surrounding area creates a significant amount of emergency calls as well. I am not saying this is a deal breaker, but let's not pretend that 216 plus trips to the casino each year is not an issue. Any large congregation of people and traffic will create emergency calls and Tewksbury can handle it if they prepare. Tewksbury has quite a few locations that require hundreds of responses a year and that number is growing. Expand the town and call volume, you better expand the capabilities of the affected departments in fairness to the people who live here.
