Tewksbury Youth Lacrosse Weekly Recaps

Boys U11

The BU11 team went on the road again, taking on Nashoba-Gold in Bolton.  11-Red was down a few players on this Sunday, but even shorthanded they dominated the play.  After allowing a goal to start the game they went on an offensive run, scoring 3 in a row, and taking a 6-3 lead at the half.  They never looked back in the second half jumping out to a 12-4 lead, before fighting off Nashoba’s final push, closing them out at 13-9.  Five different U11 Red players hit the score sheet, again showing great team play.  Daniel Fleming and Jake Murphy each had hat tricks, while Cole Stone nearly equaled their output, sending 5 balls to the back of the netting with an outstanding game.  Sean Hirtle played his normal grinding style, shutting down the opponent and finding the net for 1 goal.  James Kierce became the second rookie to score his first goal of the season, fighting off defenders and finding the back of the net in the first half.  Although the score might not suggest it, goaltending was outstanding.  Deadon Bere was again a monster in the cage, stopping several open shots with quick stick work.  Ryan Fleming finished off the second half, making some big saves while holding back Nashoba’s big offensive rush.  Austin Tingtella brought his high energy game to both sides of the field, but was dominant on defense, stripping the ball from attackers all afternoon with a vicious poke check.  Jonah Bennett played hard in all three field positions but especially helped spread the offense on attack, opening up opportunities for his teammates.  Tim Panilaitis played great defense as usual, and just missed on a few scoring opportunities, playing strong around the net.  After another great team road win, BU11 Red looks forward to back-to-back home games on Friday and Sunday this week.

The U-13B Red team had a Tough game against the Methuen Blue boys on Sunday. Tewksbury defense had their backs against the wall most of the game.  It seemed the offense had a hard time setting up and getting things going against a tough Methuen squad. Methuen scored 10 goals during the outing with Tewksbury's Mike Woodford scoring the only goal Tewksbury from an assist by Mitchell Hodgson and Clayton Taylor around the horn.  Tewksbury fell 10 -1 at the end and are now 3-1 for the season and will face Dracut this Sunday at 2:30PM.

The U-13A boys traveled to Malden to play a tough young team under the lights for a rare treat for everyone.  Malden put up a strong fight staging a nice comeback in the second half but the Tewksbury boys proved too tough with Ryan Day putting up a wall around the net and only allowing 5 goals for Malden during the contest.  Tewksbury continued to show excellent ball movement with goals coming from 9 different players.  Shane Alyward, Richie Markwarth, Michael Dell’Orfano, Nicky Iannacci, and Kyle Scrooc all scored one goal each.  Brodie Tirrell, Anthony Diminico, Colby Brown, and Brady McFadden each scored a pair each.  Kyle Braciska and Hunter DeLonais both came in with a pair of assist during the outing.  The defense continued to show great effort shutting down the offensive attack from Malden.  Sean Sears, Matt Rosemond, Patrick Letourneau, Owen Gilligan and Kyle Scrooc all played exceptional well.  The team is now 4-0 and will face a touch Littleton team this Sunday at 4PM.

Boys U-15 Red

Tewksbury Boys Lacrosse U15B – Red played a great offensive game against a solid Dracut – Carolina team with a 9 to 7 win on Tuesday April 29th.

Offensively Michael Andrea, Mitchell Andrea, Samuel Fortier, and Jimmy Strickler each contributed a goal, while Connor Doherty – Team Captain and Braden Hiltz each contributed multiple goals.

Midfielders Jackson DeRoche – Team Captain, Drew Fletcher, and Braden Hiltz won a majority of the face-offs during the game.  The defense lead by goalie Andrew Zampitella and seasoned defenseman Blake Hiltz played a consistent game.

Tewksbury U-15 Red played again on Sunday May 4th against Waltham winning 5 - 2.  Andrew Zampitella, Matt Wagner – Team Captain, Matt Andrea, Shawn Oneil, and Ryan Smith, along with the midfielders playing defensively did an outstanding job holding Waltham to just 2 goals.

Jackson DeRoche continues to be a star face-off specialist for us with 100% of his face-offs won this game.  The defense and midfielders did a very nice job in clearing the ball this week. The offensive squad spread out the goals this week with Jackson DeRoche, Connor Doherty, Drew Fletcher, Alec Hirtle, and Dylan Scott each putting a ball in the net to accumulate 5 goals.  Connor Doherty has scored in each of the Tewksbury – Red games showing great consistency.

Tewksbury’s U15B team won back to back games this past week contributing to a season record of 3 and 1.  Their next game is away against Methuen on Sunday, May 11 at 3:00 PM at the Tenney Elementary School in Methuen.
