Water Bill

Could someone please let me know what another family of 5 is paying for the water bill we just got?  Mine was $800.00!!! I can't be paying $2400.00 for water????  Just wanted an idea from someone else_ thanks.

Bob - Since the new meters and reading system have been installed, my usage has increased. Maybe it, the new meter, is reading the usage correctly and the old one wasn't. Whichever it is, more usage or correct reading, my bill has increased to the point that I don't know if I can afford to water my lawn anymore. I pride myself on the appearance of my property but it certainly means more to me to be able to eat rather than have green grass. Such a sad situation in this Town.

I don't know if this has been addressed yet...but what about a separate meter for outdoor water. This water doesn't go into the sewer system, so shouldn't be billed as such. I know this is done in other municipalities. Is it done here in Tewksbury? Another thought. The condo complex I live in uses well water for the sprinkler system. With the high water table a well shouldn't be all that expensive to install.

TomH - Tewksbury does offer second metering for outdoor use. The prerequisite is to be connected to the sewer system. So you have to connect to the sewer system, decommission your private waste system, reconfigure your piping system for a second meter, all at considerable expense to you. Then pay an exorbitant price for Town sewerage on your primary water meter.

TomH - What I'm getting at is, you still pay the same cumulative tier rate fees for water use. The second meter is allowing you not to pay for its water going into the sewer system. As I am not on the sewer system, and do not have any intentions of doing so, a second meter would do me no good.

google 'how to dig your own well'. I'd seriously consider doing it if I was paying so much for lawn watering.
