Tewksbury Red Pride 30 – Tewksbury Blue Pride 0

The Tewksbury Junior Red Pride beat their home town rival the Tewksbury Blue Pride 30-0 in a Playoff for the right to advance to the Northeast Junior High Football League Championship which will be held on Saturday November 2 at 9:00am in Tewksbury at the Ballou-Del Rossi Field at Livingston Street Park.  The corner stone of the Red Pride A Team has been the stingy defense who posted another shutout on the morning.  The team defensive effort had numerous highlights and the swarming Red tacklers made it very difficult for the Blue to gain much momentum.  Keeping the ground game in check was Anthony Op, Gaige Dobson, Michael Rosa and Antonio Capelo.  Defending the edges was Santino Garofalo and Matt Rosemond who had tremendous games.  Filling holes were Shane Alyward, Richie Markwarth and Robbie Kimtas leaving little ground to gain.  Turn overs helped the Red’s cause as Paul Manzi and Markwarth each had an interception and Manzi also added a fumble recovery.  The Red team struck pay dirt on the first offensive play from scrimmage when Shane Aylward took the hand-off and eluded all defenders in route to a 43 yard touchdown.  Next, after a sustained drive with runs by Aylward and Aidan Doherty, Tommy Bradley connected with Richie Markwarth on the first of two touchdown passes on the day.  The first pass was for a 30 yard score and the second coming later in the period for 65 yards.  After the halftime break the Red pick up where they left off and marched into the Red Zone and capped off the drive with a Bradley to Doherty touchdown connection.  The final points of the day once again came from Markwarth (3 TD’s) this time on the ground as the big running back raced for 25 yards and a score.

Tewksbury Red Pride JV 20 – Tewksbury Blue Pride JV 6

The Red Pride B squad had the opportunity to avenge an early season loss handed to them by the hands of Tewksbury Blue and they did not miss.  The vastly improved B Team won there contest 20-6 capping the Red team sweep.  The B’s also got on the score board quickly when Ethan Exilhomme took a hand-off around the edge and electrified the crowd for a 53 yard touchdown; Will McKay added the 2 point conversion.  Keeping the momentum with some tough runs by Kyle Darrigo and Mark Bradley, McKay would score anther Red touchdown.  Behind the blocking of Darrigo and a committed offensive line, led by Cam Cimmino and Lucus Tryder, McKay scampered 25 yards for score.  The Blue answered back returning the ensuing kickoff for a touchdown of their own making the score 14-6.  It was not until late in the fourth quarter when the Red Pride B team ended the threat when McKay rambled the last 10 yards of a grinding drive to put the game out of reach.  The defense of the B team had a tremendous day keeping the potent Blue Pride B’s out of the endzone.  Ben Svendsen and Mark Bradley anchored the defense from the edges and turned all comers to the middle and the line backing core of Kyle McHugh, Cam Cimmino and Kyle Darrigo.  Interceptions were gathered in by both Sean Fahey and McHugh making an air attack less of an option for the opponent.  Also defensive linemen Joe Delucia, Colin Bozek, Aidan Leffler and Colin Fullerton continue to get better each week disrupting the line of scrimmage.  And the secondary that was shared by Brady Renn and Justin Flynn remained resilient.

Tewksbury Red Pride 24 Derry 12

After coming off a disappointing game last week the Tewksbury Red Pride had a few items to check off the game list. One was to prove to themselves that last week was just a bad day the second was beat this week’s opponent the Derry Wolverines and secure 1st place overall to end regular season play and prepare for the playoffs. The game started off much different than last week, the Red Pride came determined to play hard, the defense again had to dig deep and make some adjustments, Just Rosberg, Shane Darrigo, Will Matovu, Cody Sughrue, Trevor Nickerson, Edwin Ortiz, Joe White, Steven Wilson, Brandon Winn, Jackson Deroche, Jake Durant, Kyle Privetera, Zach Frontain, Alec Hirtle, Nolan Kavanaugh, Aaron Kennen and Masyn Lorick all dug in on the defensive side of the ball and proved once again why the Red Pride defense will bend but will refuse to break under the weight of junior high school football. On the offensive side of the ball the dynamic duo of Ben McKay and Cody Sughrue is a man down, Ben McKay had to shoulder the load of the Red Pride offense and guide the explosive play making of Brandon Winn to Masyn Lorick, the hard running of Shane Darrigo and Nolan Kavanaugh, the elusive running of Will Matovu and Alec Hirtle and the sure hands of Trevor Nickerson, Steven Wilson and Devin Dufresne. With some players on the mend the Red Pride will prepare for the 1st round of playoff football scheduled for Sunday November 3rd at 1:00 pm.

Tewksbury JV Red Pride 8 - Derry Wolverines 28

The Red Pride took to the field hoping to apply the brakes following a two game losing streak. Unfortunately Derry came out flying and the Red Pride had no answer for the Wolverine ground and pound offense and intense and might defense. The Red Pride was able to put together a decent drive I. Te beginning of the game behind the tough blocking of Justin Paglia, Derek Schumaker, Vincent Hulme, Zach Weitz, Josh Gill, and Sam Fortier. The Red Pride showed some early success running the ball off tackle with tough runs by Franny Pino, Jared Gillis, and Kyle Zervas. Unfortunately Tewksbury was unable to put anything on the scoreboard and soon found themselves quickly down 22-0 at the end of the first half.   The Red Pride saw some good defensive play on defense despite the score board. Derek Graffeo led a competent crew of defensive backs in shutting down the Derry passing game. Also playing well in the defensive backfield was Josh Sughrue who made several tackles, Raschella, Brandon Pote and Matt Allen. Jack Kelly, Connor Nugent, CJ Zenetres and Matt Georgopolous made some big plays to keep the Wolverine offense on their toes. Also putting forth a good effort in defense was Nick Oliveira and Tanner Lentz.  The Red Prides only score in the game came when the offense reached into their playbook and pulled out a hook and ladder where quarterback Jay Connolly hit Jared Gillis on. Five yard stop route and Gillis was able to pitch it to speedster Kyle Zervas who ran 70 yards to the end zone. Connolly hit Graffeo on an out route to cap the Red Pride scoring at 8 for the day.  The Red Pride invites you to join them as they play at home this week against a very tough and formidable Souhegan Sabers team.
