B&E Arrest, Fire Damages Barn At Krochmal Farm

The following information was supplied by the Tewksbury Police Department. Where arrests or charges are mentioned, it does not indicate a conviction.

Quick response by the Tewksbury Fire Department limited the damage from a fire that broke out in a barn at Krochmal Farms on Tuesday afternoon.

The call came in around 3:15 p.m., reporting a working fire inside the barn, located off South Street.

Firefighters had to run a hose from South Street but still managed to contain the fire from breaching the walls or roof of the barn, which was not being used to house animals at the time.

Damage estimates and a cause of the fire were not immediately known. No injuries were reported.

On Monday, Jan. 28, police received a call regarding a hit and run accident near 820 Shawsheen St. at around 3 p.m. According to the police report, two units were dispatched to the scene. In the meantime, a second caller phoned to report that he had detained the suspect with him at the intersection of Shawsheen and Rhoda Streets.

A criminal complaint was filed against Warren J. Stevens, 34, 106 Delmont Gardens Apt. 4, Lowell, on charges of unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, leaving the scene of a property damage accident, operating an uninsured motor vehicle, operating an unregistered motor vehicle and negligent operation of a motor vehicle.

Arrests:

Cory M. Sullivan, 22, 39 Cinnamon Circle, Tewksbury, was arrested on Jan. 26 and charged with breaking and entering in the daytime with the intent to commit a felony, larceny over $250 and conspiracy.

John P. Borodawka, 25, 158 Primrose Hill Road, Dracut, was arrested on Jan. 28 and charged operating a motor vehicle with a suspended license and with possession of a Class B drug.

Ricardo Ismael Vives-Cruz, 28, 49 North East St., Holyoke, was arrested on Jan. 28 and charged with operating a motor vehicle with a suspended license and with shoplifting.

Fernando L. Accevedo, 32, 127 Garden St., 2nd floor, Lawrence, was arrested on Jan. 28 and charged with shoplifting.

David J. Babcock, 52, was arrested on Jan. 26 and was charged with OUI-liquor (3rd offense), speeding, marked lanes violation and negligent operation of a motor vehicle.

Armando Diaz-Lara, 40, 12 Spaulding St., Apt. 1, Lawrence, was arrested on Jan. 25 and was charged with unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, giving a false name or social security number to an arresting officer, a license plate violation and possession of a Class B substance.

Janice Lombardi, 55, 1830 Main St., was arrested on Jan. 29 and charged with assault and battery on a police officer and resisting arrest.
