The caller told police that one vehicle had struck another and then left the area in the direction of the Hess Station.

A short time later, the registered owner of the car that had left called Tewksbury Police to report the accident. She said she had not been driving the vehicle at the time of the accident but that her 21-year-old son and his 16-year-old girlfriend had been in the vehicle. An officer told the woman she would need to come to and fill out an accident report.

While police were on their way to that address, the man called back and said that he was not at that address, but that he and his girlfriend were at his girlfriend's house on Colonial Drive.
