B&E, Fight Land Billerica Man in Jail

Seagulls killed by cruel driver.

A 21-year-old Billerica man is facing multiple charges after allegedly breaking into a pair of vehicles and being involved in a physical altercation on Thursday.

Jeremy Beals, of 8 Arakalian Drive, is charged with two counts of breaking and entering into a vehicle with the intent of committing a felony and four counts of larceny under $250.

The arrest came Thursday, just after 9 p.m., following several 911 calls reporting a white van with a suspect that had been breaking into a vehicle in the area. Another 911 call came in shortly after, reporting a fight at the intersection of Pond and Saville Streets.

officers arrived on the scene and found one man bleeding from a laceration above the eye. He was taken by ambulance to Saints Medical Center in Lowell. Officers also found Beals. After an investigation, Beals was placed under arrest.

It was not immediately clear if the fight was directly related to the vehicle break-ins.

Cruel driver kills seagulls

Just after 5 p.m. on Thursday, police received a call from the manager of the . The manager reported that a driver in the parking lot of the pub was intentionally going after a flock of seagulls that had congregated in the parking lot.

Officers responded to the scene and discovered that three seagulls had been struck and killed. According to the police report the manager was unable to provide a license plate number for the vehicle involved and it was gone by the time officers arrived.

Caught in the act ... of good work

Wednesday, around 2:30 p.m., police received a call that a group of teens was spray-painting the bridge near the on Route 38. Police officers responded to the scene and talked to the young people involved. It turned out the teens were actually cleaning up the trash in that area.

Other calls of note:

  • Police arrested Thomas Simard, 37, of Hudson, NH, on two outstanding warrants, following on routine traffic stop on Route 495.
  • There was a brief power outage on Thursday morning in the area of Whittemore Street. the problem was caused by a tree limb falling and taking down some power lines.
