Correctional Officer from Tewksbury to be Honored

Tewksbury's Nicholas Gianino will receive recognition as Officer Of The Year.

A Tewksbury resident is set to be named Correctional Officer of the Year for the Middlesex County House of Correction in Billerica at a ceremony on May 9.

The recognition will go to Officer Nicholas Gianino.

The event will begin at 11 a.m. and take place at the Middlesex Sheriff's Office Training Academy, located on 793 Boston Road in Billerica. Gianino is one of seven Massachusetts officers receiving honors at the event.

Middlesex Sheriff Peter J. Koutoujian will present the awards a part of National Correctional Officers Week.

Giving the keynote address at the ceremony will be Capt. Robert Bonham of the U.S. Army.

Officer of the Year for the Middlesex Jail in Cambridge is Shannon Anderson of Dorchester.

Superior Officer of the Year for the Middlesex Jail in Cambridge is Deputy Daniel J. Finn, from Danvers.

Superior Officer of the Year for the Middlesex House of Correction in Billerica is Capt. Steven Batchelder of Nashua, NH.

Deputy Paul Meehan of Tyngsboro, Mass., Officer Buntha Kieng of Lowell, Mass. and Officer Todd Courtemanche of Dracut, Mass. will all receive Deputy Sheriff Awards.
