In March 2011, the defendant and the victim engaged in a verbal confrontation inside the victim’s apartment that she shared with her children, her brother, and her elderly mother.  It is alleged that during the confrontation, the defendant grabbed the victim by her throat and threatened her to kill her.  The victim’s mother allegedly witnessed the assault and heard the threat and asked the defendant to leave the apartment.  At this time, the defendant allegedly assaulted the victim’s mother with a butcher knife and threatened to blow up the apartment.  The victim’s mother immediately called 911 and the defendant was arrested by Lowell Police.

On July 29, authorities allege that the defendant sent a threatening text message to the victim, which was a violation of the restraining order the victim had taken out against the defendant in March.  Approximately thirty minutes later, the victim observed that her motor vehicle headlights had been smashed.  Security cameras at the victim’s place of employment captured a car, similar to the defendant’s, leaving the parking lot.  Later that evening, the victim observed the defendant walking near her home and notified the police.

On July 30, the victim’s landlord discovered an unexploded Molotov cocktail on the front lawn of the victim’s apartment.  Authorities allege that the defendant threw the device at the victim’s car, cracking the windshield.  Authorities also allege that the defendant scratched an offensive word into the hood of the victim’s car.

It is further alleged that on September 9, the victim’s brother allegedly witnessed the defendant light a second Molotov cocktail and throw it at the victim’s car.  The device exploded, causing a fire and damage to the victim’s car.

The defendant was arrested by Lowell Police on September 10 and was arraigned in Lowell District Court on September 12 where Judge Lawrence Pierce ordered him held on $10,000.  He was indicted by a Middlesex grand jury on September 29. These charges are allegations and the defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
