Is Tewksbury Ranked Among the Safest Towns in Massachusetts?

Find out in a recently-released list by Safewise.com.

A number of towns around Middlesex County have been listed among the "50 safest communities in Massachusetts."

Tewksbury, however, was not among them. 

The Safewise.com list, released last week, highlighted the low crime rates and other local programs of surrounding communities. Sudbury earned the top spot on the list.

Closest to Tewksbury on the list was Andover, which came in at No. 23 and was described as a "dynamic community that offers residents a high degree of community responsiveness and a diverse collection of recreational activities."

Andover features a violent crimes per 1,000 residents rate of .68, with a property crimes per 1,000 rate of 8.59.

Also among the nearby towns ranked by Safewise.com was Reading at No. 19, Lynnfield at No. 26 and Winchester at No. 28. Billerica, meanwhile, was the No. 50 ranked town on the list with a violent crimes ranking of 1.37 per 1,000 and a property crimes rate of 11.41 per 1,000 residents.
