A registered Level 2 sex offender is facing multiple charges in connection with the sexual assault of a child, according to WCVB.
John Ryder, 36, of Tewksbury, was taken into custody early Saturday morning following an investigation.
According to the Lowell Sun, police detectives executed a search warrant at Ryder's home at 2 a.m. and took him into custody. Ryder was arrested several hours after the investigation began.
Ryder is scheduled to be arraigned in Lowell District Court on Sept. 9. No bail was set, according to the Sun.
According to Mass.gov, level 2 sex offenders are determined when the Sex Offender Registry Board determines that the risk of re-offense is moderate and the degree of dangerousness posed to the public is such that a public safety interest is served by public availability of registration information.
The public shall have access to the information regarding a level 2 offender through the local police department and through the Sex Offender Registry Board.
