Thoughts and prayers for the young man involved. Kudos to our police, fire, EMS and the med flight personnel.

Great job by our rescue personell. Maybe if he didn't steal the b

Maybe he was returning from Riverside Ave, NY.
Dave October 05, 2013 at 07:45 AM
So what is his name and what are the charges? Where was he going with the bike? Is he out of the hospital yet?
Christopher Gambon (Editor) October 05, 2013 at 11:03 AM
Dave, his name has not been released yet and last I spoke with police criminal charges were being pursued but he had not been arrested yet presumably because he was medflighted to Boston directly from the scene of the crash.
Mary October 09, 2013 at 10:31 AM
Chris Gambon, did you ever find out what the name of the driver of the motorcycle was?
Christopher Gambon (Editor) October 09, 2013 at 12:16 PM
@Mary, last I checked with TPD no further information had been released, but I will follow up today and post any update I can get.
Mary October 09, 2013 at 02:02 PM
Thanks so much Christopher!
Christopher Gambon (Editor) October 10, 2013 at 10:25 AM
@Mary and Dave, he was not arrested but served summons for OUI, receiving stolen property (motor vehicle), reckless operation, passing violation and marked lanes violation. His name is not being released.
Mary October 10, 2013 at 10:49 AM
So Chris, are we to assume that he was a minor and his name cannot be disclosed. Also, if he had stolen a motorcycle, why wasn't he arrested? This case sounds strange to me.
Christopher Gambon (Editor) October 10, 2013 at 10:55 AM
@Mary, the driver was a 25-year-old male as we reported. He was not arrested at the scene due to the severity of his injuries (critical but stable condition the day after the crash). I will definitely provided any more updates as they become available.
Mary October 10, 2013 at 11:00 AM
I guess I am being curious being I have seen many an injured individual in a hospital bed charged and arrested. Thanks for trying to keep us updated Chris!
Dave October 10, 2013 at 12:28 PM
By not releasing his name makes me wonder why.?? A 25 year old on a stollen motorcycle and no name. What is a summons for an OUI? I never heard of that before.
Mary October 10, 2013 at 01:13 PM
I am also wondering if it is the relative of someone important and they don't want the name released?
Dave October 10, 2013 at 05:18 PM
Mary, I was thinking the same thing. Hope we are wrong. It seems they just want this to go away.
Maureen Kear October 10, 2013 at 07:00 PM
I agree with you folks. Sounds like they are sweeping this one under the rug! We have a right to have this information. What is all the secrecy about?
Tewksbury2001 October 10, 2013 at 09:22 PM
Cop's son?
Mary October 11, 2013 at 06:39 AM
Tewksbury 2001 and Maureen, to both of you, I full agree with you both. Let's see if they eventually release his name.
Dave October 11, 2013 at 07:36 AM
Isn't this just a stolen motorcycle and a accident? Why the big secret about the name? Is he out of the hospital? I hope he is ok.
Bob October 15, 2013 at 01:47 PM
Still no name released? Chris, would this be a situation for a FOI request? Strange!
Mary October 15, 2013 at 03:37 PM
So who is this person that stole a bike, was charged with DUI, crashed on South Street, and is still in the hospital. Why can't they release this man's name. He is over 25 so he is of legal age for public publication. This is a deep dark mystery. Yes, very strange!!!
Dave October 15, 2013 at 04:46 PM
Mary, I don't believe he was charged with a DUI. You get arrested for that. He only got a summons for a DUI. The other 2 charges where traffic violations. I bet they get dropped.
Mary October 15, 2013 at 05:10 PM
Dave, I misquoted something. He got a summons for OUI. This was written in the original posting on the Patch. I would like to know what a summons for OUI is. Isn't that an arrest and not a summons? A stolen bike should be an arrest, and then comes the traffic violations. Something is just not right with this whole story!
Dave October 15, 2013 at 05:25 PM
Mary look at the posts from Chris. That information is in there. I don't know what a summons for OUI is. I thinks it was because of the med flight. Try the Tewksbury PD. web site. Look up the arrests for October 10/2/13. Nothing listed for South st. I don't think it was in any log. Try this link. http://www.tewksbury.net/Pages/TewksburyMA_Police/index
Christopher Gambon (Editor) October 15, 2013 at 05:38 PM
@Dave you are correct. He was not arrested because of the injuries he sustained in the crash (and was medflighted from the scene). As such, he was served summons for OUI, receiving stolen property (motor vehicle), reckless operation, passing violation and marked lanes violation.
Mary October 15, 2013 at 05:47 PM
Chris, so if you receive stolen property, you don't get arrested. I don't think that sounds right?? I have heard of arrests for lessor infractions. Even if he wasn't arrested, why haven't that printed the young man's name?
Mary October 15, 2013 at 05:48 PM
Dave, no listings on the Tewksbury Police Log for October 2, 2013 for the accident on South Street.
Dave October 15, 2013 at 08:34 PM
Mary. I didn't think there would be anything listed anywhere. I wonder what that means?
Mary October 16, 2013 at 10:31 AM
Dave, I think someone doesn't want us to know the truth about this story. Something is being covered up!
Dave October 16, 2013 at 06:15 PM
Chris I agree with Bob. This a something for the FIOA. to look into.
