Moped Or Car, Drunk Driving Is Drunk Driving

The following information was supplied by the Tewksbury Police Department. Where arrests or charges are mentioned, it does not indicate a conviction.

A drunk driving suspect learned the hard way this week that is doesn't matter what type of motorized vehicle you are operating, driving is still driving.

Just after 5:31 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 2, an employee of called police to report a patron had just left there and appeared to be drunk. The employee said the man drove away on a blue moped.

units responded to the scene and pulled over the moped, driven by Anthony J. Manfredi, 49, 213 Elizabeth Drive, Dracut.

After an investigation, Manfredi was arrested and charged with OUI-liquor (2nd offense), negligent operation of a motor vehicle, operating a motor vehicle after his license was suspended for drunk driving and operating a motor vehicle after his license had been revoked.

Teens arrested for a break-in

On Thursday, Aug. 2, just before 3 a.m., a Geiger Drive resident called police and reported that he overheard someone in his shed. Three units responded to the scene and two confronted two teens walking away from the area.

After an investigation, the teens were arrested.

Eric Case, 18, of 9 Pine Ridge Road, Wilmington, was charged with possession of a Class E substance. The second teen, a 16-year-old male juvenile, was charged with possession of a Class E substance, breaking and entering a vehicle or boat in the nighttime with the intent of committing a felony and larceny under $250.

Police are also investigating if the teens are connected with two vehicle break-ins on Poplar Street.

She probably didn't get the keys

On Thursday, Aug. 2, just before 5:30 p.m., a South Street resident called 911 to complain that her husband had taken her keys. She said her husband told her that the only way she would get them back was to call the police. So she did. Police responded to the scene and arrested her. Lynne M. Tisbert, 46, of 1320 South St., was arrested on an outstanding warrant.

Additional Arrests:

Mark Prior, 59, 190 Bedford Road, Lincoln, was arrested on Aug. 1 on a warrant.

Michael Daulton, 34, 161 West St. Apt. 1, Malden, was arrested on Aug. 3 on a warrant.

Christopher J. Sovie, 39, of 11 Boisvert Road, Tewksbury, was arrested on Aug. 2 and charged with OUI-liquor and negligent operation of a motor vehicle.

Christopher A. Maher, 61, 148 Malden St., Malden, was arrested on Aug. 2 and charged with OUI-liquor (2nd offense) and for following too closely.

Additional incidents:

On Thursday, Aug. 2, at 4:32 p.m., a man reported that he had stopped at ran into the store, and when he came out, someone had stolen a piece of machinery from the back of his truck. A report was filed.

On Thursday, Aug. 2, at 7:10 a.m., a Poplar Street resident called police to report that his car had been broken into overnight. He said his wallet and cell phone had been stolen from out of the glove box. Officers were dispatched to the scene and a report was filed.

On Thursday, Aug. 2, at 12:40 p.m., a Poplar Street resident called police to report that someone had stolen items from out of his tool box sometime overnight. The man told police that he also found a pill bottle in the street that may belong to another break-in victim in his neighborhood. The pill bottle was returned to the owner and a report was filed.
