New Details Emerge In Brutal Beating On Compass Lane

Police are searching for a suspect wanted in connection with the attack.

Tewksbury and State Police are hunting for the person or persons responsible for a brutal beating that left a Lowell man fighting for his life in a Boston Hospital.

The attack took place around 3 p.m. on Compass Lane, a small, residential, dead-end road off Shawsheen Street.

Police received a call that a man was lying unconscious in a driveway. The name of the victim has not been released but Fox 25 News and the Lowell Sun have both identified him as being a 27-year-old Lowell man.

The victim was first taken by ambulance to Lowell General Hospital and then flown by helicopter to Brigham and Women's Hospital in Boston. His condition is not being released.

Police are releasing few details about the case, including what the Lowell man was doing on Compass Lane and what the motive might have been in the attack. However, FOX 25 is reporting their staff saw police picking up dozens of pills from off the ground from around where the victim was found.

Scanner chatter indicates the weapon used in the attack may have been a heavy tool such as a wrench.

No arrests have been made in the case but law enforcement officials have indicated that they have a suspect in mind and are searching for that person.
