New Rash of Car Break-Ins Plague North Tewksbury Neighborhoods

A new rash of motor vehicle break-ins has struck another Tewksbury neighborhood.

Over the weekend, car owners in a section of North Tewksbury were victimized, including residents living on Longmeadow Road, Hood Road and Cleghorn Lane.

At 1:39 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 9, a Hood Road resident came into Police Headquarters to report a vehicle break-in.

Later Sunday night, 9:45 p.m. a Longmeadow Road resident called Tewksbury Police to report that someone had broken into his vehicle during the day and had stolen his cell phone. While the officer was talking to that resident, a neighbor came out and reported that his vehicles had been broken into as well.

And earlier that day, at 9:45 a.m., a Cleghorn Lane resident reported that someone had broken into her car and stolen some bags.

The night before, at around 11:10 p.m. on Dec. 8, another Cleghorn Lane resident had called 911 to report he had surprised someone breaking into his vehicle. He said the suspect had taken off in a silver sedan. The resident was able to provide a description of the suspect -- a white male, average build, wearing a dark hoodie, hat, jeans and basketball sneakers. The resident said nothing had been taken from his vehicle.

Tewksbury Police are investigating each of these incidents.

Arrests:

Erin Clegg, 26, 72 Heath St., Tewksbury, was arrested on Dec. 9 on an outstanding warrant.

Additional Incidents:

At 8:28 a.m. on Monday, Dec. 10, a Patricia Road resident called police to report a suspicious man had been in her backyard the night before. She said that when she checked the backyard the next morning, she found three duffle bags covered up by leaves.

On Monday, Dec. 10, just before 1 p.m., Police and rescue crews responded to a motor vehicle accident at the intersection of Salem Road and South Street. Both cars were towed and one person was transported to Lawrence General Hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.

On Saturday, Dec. 8, at 5:37 p.m., a Whipple Road resident called police to report that his front window had been hit by a paintball. No damage was reported.
