No Honor Among Thieves

The alleged getaway driver in a Tewksbury bank robbery reportedly had a falling out with her partner after she felt he shortchanged her when splitting to loot.

Krystina Gignac, 26, 5 Fifth St., Lowell, was arraigned in Lowell District Court on Tuesday on charges of being an accessory to commit masked-armed robbery.

Michael A. Dexter, 50, of 222 Stackpole St., Unit 1, was arraigned on charges of armed robbery and conspiracy in connection _ He is also charged with _ as well as failing to register as a sex offender.

The Lowell Sun is reporting that when questioned by police, Gignac said Dexter hadn't given her a fair share of around $10,000 taken in the robberies. So Gignac had two men break in Dexter's residence to try and force him to give up more of the cash.

According to the Sun report, the trio was forced to leave empty-handed when someone else in the residence called police.

Gignac was released on personal recognizance on the home invasion charge but is being held on $5,000 bail on the accessory charge, according to the report. She is due back in court Feb. 16.

At Tuesday's arraignment, prosecutors indicated that Dexter has a history of bank robbery. He was accused of robbing the Lowell Co-operative bank in 2004 and DNA found on a ball cap at the scene of that robbery tied him to another bank job in 2001.

According to the Lowell Sun report, prosecutors say Dexter demanded money from two different tellers _, indicating he had a gun, demanding 50s and 100s.

Dexter allegedly threatened to shoot employees and ordered them to lock the door as he was fleeing, according to The Sun. In her statement to police, Gignac allegedly said Dexter was responsible for both robberies.

The description of the suspect provided by witnesses at both robberies was almost identical. There were other similarities in the robberies, as well.

Dexter is being held on $50,000 cash bail and is due back in court on Feb. 22.
