Suspicious Package Forces The Evacuation of Walmart
The following information was supplied by the Tewksbury Police Department. Where arrests or charges are mentioned, it does not indicate a conviction.
Hundreds of holiday shoppers got a dose of humbug on Tuesday (Dec. 11) when a mysterious package forced the evacuation of Walmart.
Tewksbury Police received a call at 4:34 p.m. from a person reporting a suspicious package on the ground at the retail store on Route 38. The caller said the package was a styrofoam container inside a box and another box.
The Fire Department responded to the scene and the State Police Bomb Squad was called in. The store was evacuated at around 5 p.m.

The store was re-opened when it was determined the boxes did not contain an explosive device.

Anne M. Ferreira, 28, 40 Melim Drive, Tewksbury, was arrested on Dec. 11 on an outstanding warrant.
Additional Incidents:
On Dec. 11, at 6:41 p.m., police received a call from an Apache Road resident, reporting that their debit card had just been used in Saudi Arabia for $1,066.
On Dec. 11, at 9:17 p.m., rescue crews responded to a single car accident on Andover Street. The vehicle had struck a utility pole. The driver, the only person in the car, had to be extracted from the vehicle. He suffered serious injuries and was taken by Med-Flight to a Boston Hospital.
On Dec. 11, at 9:26 p.m., police received a 911 call from an Elm Street resident, reporting that their home had just been burglarized earlier in the evening. Officers responded, including the K9 unit. A report was filed.
At 11:50 a.m. on Dec. 11, police received a call from a person that they had given $1,000 to an employee of and that employee had just left. An officer responded to the scene and filed a report.
