Tewksbury Driver Involved in Wakefield Pedestrian Fatality

As of Monday night, State Police have not filed any charges against the driver.

Massachusetts State Police are continuing to investigate the Monday death of a pedestrian in Wakefield that involved a Tewksbury driver.

State Police said that on Monday afternoon at 3:08 p.m., police were called to Interstate 95/Route 128 South at the on-ramp from Route 129 in Wakefield for a pedestrian who had been struck and was suffering life-threatening injuries.

When they arrived to the scene, police found a box truck had struck the man near the on-ramp. The pedestrian was transported to Lahey Clinic, but was determined upon his arrival that he did not survive the injuries.

Police later identified the pedestrian as John S. Marsetta, 39, of Gloucester. The driver of the truck was identified as Scott C. Carmichael, 51, of Tewksbury.

No charges have been filed, State Police said, and the incident remains under investigation.
