Tewksbury Man Charged With DUI In Crash That Injures Three

Driver may have been texting at the time of the accident

A Tewksbury man is scheduled to appear in a Salem, NH courtroom next month after allegedly causing a multi-car accident while driving drunk last week.

The Lawrence Eagle-Tribune reported that Harold Medeiros, 59, was arrested on Jan. 26 after allegedly causing a four-car pile up in Pelham. Medeiros and two other people sustained injuries in the crash and were taken to area hospitals for treatment.

According to the Eagle-Tribune report, a concerned driver called _ in Methuen and Pelham about a possible drunk driver in a gold Lexus SUV around 8 p.m. An officer in Pelham tried to pull over Medeiros but he allegedly slammed into a vehicle parked at an intersection, causing the four-car crash.

Medeiros has a court date in Salem, NH on Feb. 27. He is charged with OUI and other motor vehicle offenses.
