Tewksbury Resident Killed in New Hampshire Crash

The 52-year-old Tewksbury man was pinned beneath his tractor-trailer in Chesterfield, N.H.

New Hampshire State Police announced on Thursday that a Tewksbury man was killed in a Wednesday night crash likely caused by slick road conditions.

Police said that at about 9:51 p.m. on Wednesday, troopers responded to Route 9 in Chesterfield, N.H., for a report of a crash that left one person pinned underneath their vehicle. The man did not survive the injuries suffered in the crash.

On Thursday, police revealed that the driver who was killed in the crash was Fritz Etienne, 52, of Tewksbury. He was pronounced dead at the scene by first responders.

Upon arriving at the scene, officers found that it appeared the truck's trailer began sliding on the westbound side of Route 9 due to icy road conditions, causing it it to jackknife.

Police believe Etienne attempted to exit the truck through the driver's side door at some point during the collision.

After Etienne was pinned beneath his vehicle, Chesterfield police officers and firefighters attempted to extricate him, but were unsuccessful.

The exact cause of the crash remains under investigation by New Hampshire State Police.
