Traffic Stop Leads To Three Arrests On Multiple Drug Charges

The following information was supplied by the Tewksbury Police Department. Where arrests or charges are mentioned, it does not indicate a conviction.

What started out as a routine traffic stop near Applebee's ended with the arrest of two men and a woman on multiple drug and motor vehicle charges.

A Tewksbury Police officer pulled over the suspect's vehicle, an SUV, just before 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 16, due to revoked insurance. The vehicle was driven by Leonardo F. Aponte Jr., 26, of 648 Boston Road, Billerica.

A computer check of Aponte found that both his license and registration had also been revoked. He was arrested on charges of operating a motor vehicle with a license that had been revoked as a Habitual Traffic Offender, operating a motor vehicle with a revoked registration and driving an uninsured motor vehicle.

The night didn't go any better for Aponte's passengers, Charles E. Fox, 36, of 49 2nd St. Apt. 2, Lowell and Renee M. Aponte, 25, 30 Donald Road, Burlington.

A subsequent investigation led to both of them being arrested. Renee Aponte was charged with Possession of a Class A Drug, Possession of a Class B Drug, and Possession of a Class E Drug.

Fox was charged with Possession Of a Class A Drug with intent to distribute, Possession Of a Class B Drug with intent to distribute and Possession Of a Class E Drug with intent to distribute.

Additional Arrests:

Gia D. Amato, 22, 749 North St., was arrested on Friday, Jan. 18, on a warrant.

Shekina Bishop-Sullivan, 24, 1417 Ames Hill Drive, Tewksbury, was arrested on Jan. 18 on a warrant.

Additional Incidents:

A woman called police at 2:44 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 18 to report that she had been washing her car in a bay at Haffner's when a man cut through her bay on foot. She said it really disturbed her. But she didn't want to leave her name and hung up. A short time later, the man in question called police to report that yes, in fact, he had cut through the bay but only to get to a change machine on the other side. The man also reported that the woman had turned the hose on him. He wanted that logged.

A Concrete Road resident called police on Thursday, Jan. 17 at 6:09 a.m. and reported that his car had been struck by a town plow some time overnight.

On Wednesday, Jan. 16, at 4:20 p.m., a car fire was reported in a driveway on Marshall Street.

Is some lady kidding!?!? You are in a public place - a guy can walk by, though, under, or around for that matter .... Do you seriously think because you threw some quarters in a public car wash, you own the space? .... Seriously? You've got to be kidding! .... if this guy was doing something wrong, 1) he wouldn't have called the station himself - 2) the Tewksbury Police would have "done something" .... HE WALKED THROUGH .... u have got to be kidding!! :(
Brandy BBlitzin January 20, 2013 at 09:55 PM
"lucky"? .... that sounds like a threat, and much more worse than what this guy did - which was walk through a public car wash bay .... and it's not someones personal space - its a public car wash .... what in the world ??

Tewksbury is not the worst, have our probs like everywhere -- I still live here, and love Tewksbury!! .... I'm thinking our Police Department is plenty big enough - maybe except for having to deal with stupid things like a snob who think she owns the car wash .... ?

omg, you think? this whole article (not you Patch! - the story) is really making me mad ....

This is how I imagine the car wash thing really went. He cuts through, she gets annoyed, he gets annoyed back, swearing starts, she turns the hose on him, probably more swearing then she calls the cops cause she's afraid he'll retaliate, but fails to mention she sprayed him, cause yeah that's not exactly helping the situation. That's just my guess.

Just my opinion...this is how i think the car wash thing really went:...She is washing her car, in the small space of the 'bay', he startles her, she sprays him unintentionally...just my opinion.

I feel like if you're a guy, somehow managing to go UNDER a woman in a car wash without her permission to get to a change machine is just asking for trouble. I do get your point though... but I do also get why women can be paranoid about strange men approaching them. It's hard to... protect yourself from danger and be trusting of strangers these days, maybe more so with women.
Sarah January 20, 2013 at 11:41 PM
Definitely a possibility, though I'm not sure why she wouldn't have fessed up about spraying him or said her name to the cops though, I don't see it causing her any trouble if it was a mistake/misunderstanding.

This car wash lady must be scarred for life. I cannot imagine the toll this awful car wash intrusion took on her. My thoughts and prayers go out to her because her life will never be the same. She may be forced to drive around in a dirty care for eternity due to this terrible incident.

Maybe all the bays were full and he had to cut through one of them. What this woman did was an assualt. I would have pressed charges against her. So if I walk down the isle in Market Basket and a woman is blocking one side with her carriage and reading the igredients on the opposite side of the isle do I have to go find a new isle or be assaulted?
joe challender May 22, 2013 at 12:36 PM
What the guy should have done is hold the dollar bill and let her know he needs to cut through. Maybe even ask for permission in writing so she doesnt sue him for failure to bring change to a car wash.
