A Hampton Beach Trip, Senior Center Dance and More From the COA

The latest from the Tewksbury Council on Aging.


The following information is provided by the Tewksbury Council on Aging.

Representative Jim Miceli will hold office hours at the Senior Center on Tuesday, August 27 from 9:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. The Representative or his Aide will be available to speak to Tewksbury residents during this time.

Those people traveling to Hampton Beach next Wednesday, August 28 are reminded that departure from the Senior Center will be 3 p.m. The approximate time of arrival back in Tewksbury will be 10:45 p.m.

The Friends will hold a dance at the Senior Center on Friday, September 6 from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m..  The Entertainers Band will be providing music for the evening.  Tickets are available at the door at $10 per person.  All are welcome. 

Dr. Timothy Smith will conduct a Podiatry Clinic at the Senior Center on Saturday, September 7. This clinic will be limited to the first 35 Tewksbury Seniors that sign up.  The fee is $15 per person. Registrations are now being accepted.

Then on Sunday, September 8, the Friends and Seniors will hold a Breakfast Benefit and Mini Fair.  The breakfast will be held from 7:30 a.m. to 11 a.m.; and proceeds will benefit the Senior Center programs and the GAC scholarship drive.  

The Mini Fair portion of this event will be held from 7:30 a.m. to noon.

The menu for Breakfast includes: pancakes, scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage, homefries, beans, toast and beverages.  Tickets are: Adults $7; Chidren 12 and under $3; and, Toddlers free.  There will be some cool items on the crafts tables and a yummy bake table.  Hope to see you there.

Due to the Labor Day Holiday, the Upscale Consignment Boutique “Intake of Items” Day will be held on Monday, September 9th from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m.  The shop is now accepting fall clothing.  Why not come on down and see what's new for the fall.  The shop is open until 6 p.m. on intake day.

Also coming up in September is a Foxwood day trip on Thursday, September 12.  The trip cost is $25 and there are still a few seats available.

One may want to mark the following dates in his/her September calendar:

  •  Friday, September 13 – Silvertones Dance from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m.  $10
  •  Monday, September 16 – Senior Center Cootie at 12:30 p.m.
  •  Tuesday, September 17 – Singing Swingers Chorus Practice resumes at 4 p.m.
  •  Wednesday, September 25 – Red Hat Creative Crafts Night at 6 p.m.  $5
  •  Friday, September 27 – Senior Center Art Show
Art classes will also resume in September.  Next week's column will note start dates for Bunka Embroidery, Wood Carving and Stained Glass classes.  This Fall Barbara Antinoro will be conducting an “Exploring Pastels” Class. 

However, this class will not begin until October.  If interested, please sign the interest list located at the front desk.  Information on the class will also be at the front desk.
