Each February we celebrate Tewksbury's “True Valentines” by inviting Tewksbury Couples married 50 years or over as our guests at the Friends Valentine Dance.

This year, the dance will be held on Valentine's Day, Friday Feb. 14.   If you are such a Tewksbury couple or know of a couple married 50 years or more and have never been recognized by the Friends of the Elderly and the Council on Aging, please submit your name or the names of a special couple that you know along with their telephone number to the COA Secretary, Jan, or to Linda by calling the Center at 978-640-4482.

Tickets for the rest of us Valentines are now available at $10 per person.  Entertainment will be provided by the Perfect Match Band.

A Cootie Party will be held at the Senior Center on Friday, Feb. 21 at 12:30 p.m.  All are welcome to join in this fun afternoon.

In the evening on Friday, Feb. 21, the Silvertones Band will hold its monthly dance.  Tickets are available at the door for $10 per person.  Why not come on down and enjoy the sounds of the big band era.  The night includes dancing and refreshments.

The Council on Aging is assisting Tewksbury Senior Citizen residents with Fuel Assistance applications.  Seniors may call Jan or Linda at 978-640-4482 to arrange an appointment and find out what information one needs to bring with them when applying.  Some of the household income eligibility guidelines for fuel assistance are as follows:  1 person $32,065;   2 people $41,932;  3 people $51,798;   4 people $61,664.  Information on larger families and the eligible incomes is posted at the Senior Center and is also available from CTI.  Younger families may call Community Teamwork (CTI) at 978-459-6161 for information on how and where to apply.

The COA is now compiling a list of those Senior Citizens who wish to have our AARP Volunteers assist them with tax returns.  The COA staff will soon be scheduling appointments which will begin around the second week of February.

A pleasant week is wished to all.  God Bless America.
