Finegold Beats Adams in 2nd Essex and Middlesex Senate District

State Sen. Barry Finegold claimed 64 percent of votes to win his reelection bid for the Second Essex and Middlesex State Senate District against State Rep. Paul Adams.

State Sen. Barry Finegold was able to reclaim his seat in the Second Essex and Middlesex State Senate District on Election night.

With 89 percent of precincts reporting, the Associated Press is calling Finegold the winner of the Second Essex and Middlesex Senate District race. Lawrence is still waiting for results from six precincts.

Finegold bested State Rep. Paul Adams, garnering 64 percent of the votes versus Adams' 36 percent of votes.

According to results from the Associated Press, 40,067 voters chose Finegold to represent them in the Second Essex and Middlesex Distirct. Adams grabbed 22,371 votes.

Finegold was elected to the State Senate in 2010 and is now celebrating his first reelection victory. Finegold had no other Democratic challengers in the September primary.

"I am very humbled by the outpouring of support," said Finegold. "We are going to continue to work on issues like the I-95 Interchange, fighting for education dollars for Andover."

Adams won his first term from the 17th Middlesex District in 2010, defeating Patricia Commane. However, redistricting literally moved Adams out of the 17th and rather than relocate to seek re-election, he opted to make a run at Finegold.

The better man lost and we are left with one of the emptiest suits in the legislature in Barry (not so) Finegold. Have you ever talked to this guy ? He reminds me of that old song "Is that all there is?". He boasts in debates of his ambitious nature as if this somehow makes up for incompetence and lack of brain power. God help the citizens of Massachusetts with alleged public servants like this (although the non- citizens of Mass and the country will always do well with their Liberal sponsors).

UsWhat has finegold done for us? It's always the same old story....more money for education, more money for the elderly....the result though is higher taxes and more backroom deals to get federal money. Why don't they fix the purposefully convoluted laws that make it difficult to do anything in this state? Why don't they? Because as attorneys passing laws that keep their law practices in business is the bottom line.
