For First Time, Residents Will Not Select Tewksbury Town Clerk
The Town Manager will be responsible for deciding who will fill the position.
Effective this spring, the process of selecting the Tewksbury Town Clerk will have a completely different look.
The Lowell Sun reported that for the first time, Town Manager Richard Montuori will be the one selecting the person who will fulfill Town Clerk role. In the past, voters have been responsible for electing the Town Clerk. But that changed in 2011 when Special Town Meeting approved the change.
So what is Montuori looking for in a candidate to fill the position when current Town Clerk Denise Graffeo's term expires this spring?
"Someone like Denise," Montuori told The Sun. "It's her. She's the ideal candidate."
