Increased Activity to Begin Tuesday at Sutton Brook Disposal Site

The transfer of fill is expected to begin on Tuesday in Tewksbury.

Activity is expected to pick up at the Sutton Brook superfund site this week, according to information provided by the Environmental Protection Agency.

The EPA reported that going forward there will be "active and regular deliveries of materials, supplies, or equipment" continuing in the area of the clean up.

Transportation of fill is expected to begin on Tuesday, something the EPA said involves significant truck traffic.

"Initially, there will be about 3-5 days of significant truck traffic, followed by a 1-2 week slow period," the EPA said. "After the slow period, transport of fill with significant truck traffic is expected to be ongoing. Further updates will be provided as the schedule is more firmly established. When significant truck traffic commences, police presence along the truck route is planned."

Residents will notice signs for the truck route at the South Street and Bridge Street intersection, along with the Shawsheen Street and Bridge Street intersection.

In July, work will likely take place on the last three Sundays of the month at the central portion of the site. There will not, however, be deliveries on those days, according to the EPA.

Also in July, Saturday work will begin around the same time as the Sunday work, continuing into the fall months.
