O'Neill Joins Campaign for Shawsheen School Committee

Wentworth and Polimeno are first candidates to have nominating signatures certified.

Another active race is taking shape for the Tewksbury Municipal Election.

According to information provided by Town Clerk Denise Graffeo, Richard O'Neill Jr. has taken out nomination papers with the intent of challenging incumbent Patricia Meuse for her seat on the Shawsheen Tech School Committee.

Another new potential candidate is James Killion, who took out nomination paper for the Board of Health.

In the meantime, School Committee Incumbent Krissy Polimeno and Jim Wentworth, one of six candidates for two seats on the Board of Selectman, became the first official candidates on the ballot when their nomination signatures were certified.

Candidates have until Feb. 19 to return nomination papers with at least 50 valid signatures of registered Tewskbury voters to secure a spot on the April 6 ballot.

Time for new voices, new visions, new ways of getting things done.....Hats off to those who have chosen to step up and commit themselves and their familys to the rigors of a campaign. Pocketbooks are emptied of the last pennies, taxes are on the rise, we have spent copious amounts of money and are on the hook for many years of money we just dont have, store fronts are empty and green space is going the way of the do do bird....times, they are a changing, time to re-think, re-evaluate, and re-motivate. Where are we going Tewksbury? and how are we going to get there?

I do not understand why former Tewksbury School Committee members want to challenge the incumbents at shawsheen Tech. That school seems to be doing extremely well.

I am guessing that Rick O'Neil is out to "teach someone a lesson" He was the one who spearheaded the whole rift with the Tech in the past over students wanting to go to the tech. If i am not mistaken he is the one who suggested that Tewksbury no longer allow their students to go to the Tech on an exploratory day, to see if they were interested in attending the Tech. Anytime O'Neil does something there is a reason for it.

He is not wrong about the Tech. They have lost focus on their purpose their current selection process all but eliminates those students who truly need a vocational alternative to college. They boast of their high MCAS scores and high college placement yet neglect to mention that other than electrical & plumbing near 50% of all students DO NOT persue a career in the field they are being taught. Is that money well spent? Patricia Meuse is nothing but a rubber stamp for the Tech administration. Time for a change.
