Several hundred residents gathered at the on Monday, as those who made the ultimate sacrifice in defense of their country, in a somber Memorial Day service.
Many of those who spoke at the service, including several local and state political leaders, spoke of the need to do more for veterans who return home from active duty, including health and psychological care, housing and jobs.
But it was the speech by that had those in attendance locked onto every word and had some wiping away tears.
Lombardi shared personal stories of men he had served with and the remarkable sacrifices they made to serve their country. Some made it home safely, some with severe injuries, some never made it back to their families.
