UPDATE: Senate Vote Delays Brown But He Should Make Tonight's Debate

"People have sent me down here -- and that's to vote," Brown said in an interview with the Boston Globe.

UPDATED at 3:52 p.m.

Due to a scheduling conflict in Washington, there was a chance incumbent Sen. Scott Brown might not make it to tonight's debate in Boston versus challenger Elizabeth Warren.

Brown told the Boston Globe earlier today that if there are senate votes scheduled through the rest of the afternooon, he would have to miss the debate.

"Voting is 'the one thing that I can’t delegate to the staff,' he told the Globe. 'I’ve only missed one vote.'

However, WBZ tweeted around 3:40 p.m. that Brown was on his way to make a 4:30 p.m. plane so he could make it to WBZ studios by 7 p.m. for the flight.

Had he been delayed further, Brown was hoping the debate could be postponed.

“If we’ve got votes, I’ll make them,” Brown was quoted as saying. “I’m sure if we don’t make [the debate] tonight, we’ll reschedule it for Monday or something.”
