Senior Center To Host Benefit Breakfast on Sunday

Giant yard sale is planned for July.

A Friends dance will be held this Friday, June 8th at 7:00 PM. Tickets are $10 per person and available at the door. Entertainment for the evening is the Fred Manzi Band.

The Seniors will hold a Breakfast Benefit this Sunday, June 10th, from 7:30 to 11:00 AM. The menu includes: pancakes, scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage, homefries, beans, toast and beverages. Adult tickets are $6, children 12 and under $3 and toddlers free.

A note of thanks is extended to all those who helped in making the Showcase of Creativity art show a success and to all those who made donations to the Country Store. We especially thank Ernie Lorenz and Garret Star for providing music for the event. Winners of the Country Store are listed on the bulletin board at the Senior Center. Anna Kemp won the Snooti Patooti basket of goodies and Dorothy Dias won the door prize. Another great job everyone...thank you.

The Tewksbury Reads “Micky Ward Visits” program by thethis past Saturday was also a success and a very pleasant afternoon. Micky Ward graciously shared stories of his life with the audience and answered questions. He then held a book signing and took photos with those who attended. The Library still has copies of “Irish Thunder” available and a number of other interesting events planned for the “Tewksbury Reads” program. One may obtain a listing of events at the Library or check its website at tewksburypl.org.

Sign-ups for the July 11th Foxwood trip will take place next Monday, June11th beginning at 8:15 AM. The cost of the trip is $21 per person.

The Men's Groups held by Mike McDermott last Thursday was well attended. The June meetings will be held on June 14th and 28th. This is a 60+ mens group. Why not come on down and check it out.

The GAC will hold its annual Penny Sale at its June 12th meeting. All are welcome to attend.

The Silver Tones dance will be held Friday, June 15th at 7:00 PM. Tickets are $10 and available at the door. Why not come on down and support the Senior Center house band.

Dr. Smith will conduct a Podiatry Clinic at the Senior Center on Saturday, June 16th. Tickets are now available to Tewksbury Senior Citizens at $15 per person. An appointment time will be assigned when signing up. This clinic is partially funded by the COA ; and, it is suggested that you sing-up early because the clinic is limited to 30 Tewksbury Seniors.

A day trip has been planned to the Desert of Maine in Freeport on Thursday, June 14th. The trip includes motor coach transportation, lunch at the Dunstan School Restaurant and a stop at L.L. Bean Outlet. The trip cost is $59 per person and is contingent on enough people signing up for the trip. Since time is running out, one must sign up by June 7th.

There are still opening for the Hampton Beach trip of Wednesday, June 27th. Departure will take place at 3:00 PM from the Senior Center. The annual sand sculptures will be on display this day and travelers will be able to take in the evening concert by the Continentals. Dinner is on your own. The trip coast is $12 per person. The estimated arrival back in Tewksbury is around 10:00 PM.

The Red Hat Rockport trip and several July trips have not been confirmed yet but should be finalized by the end of this week. One will be a Hyannis Harbor Cruise with a buffet lunch and a stop at the Christmas Tree Shop. The second will be a guided tour of Bristol, RI, a luncheon buffet and a visit to Linden Place and Oakdale Farms Country Barn. Dates and trip costs will be available soon.

Yuen Li is the new Senior Center SHINE Counselor. She will be at the Center on Monday's to advise people on Medicare and supplemental coverages. One may call the Senior Center 978-640-4480 to arrange an appointment.

A Senior Center Yard Sale will be held on Saturday, July 21st from 9 AM to 2 PM. Reservations will now be accepted. The cost for a table space is $15 or 2 spaces for $25.
