Senior Center To Host Comedy Night

Show will feature Jimmy Dunn, Steve Bjork, Mike Prior and Steve Macone.

This Saturday, July 30th at 8 PM, the Friends of the Elderly will present its first ever “Comedy Night” at the Tewksbury Senior Center.

The doors will open at 7:00 PM. The show headliner Comedian is Jimmy Dunn…also featured are Steve Bjork, Mike Prior and Steve Macone…four of the funniest nationally touring comedians working today. At the time this article was submitted there were some tickets still available. One may call 978-640-4480 to see if there are any tickets left.

This Friday, July 29th, SpayMass will be stationed in the Senior Center parking lot with its Catmobile to conduct a Low-Cost Spay/Neuter Clinic from 8 AM to 5PM. The Spay Package is $100 and the Neuter Package is $75. The package includes: Exam; Flea Treatment; Spay/Neuter; Vaccines & Deworming. For appointments and information call 888-495-SPAY (7729).

The Upscale Consignment will hold its “Intake of Items Day” next Monday, August 1st from 3:00 to 7:00 PM. Fall clothing will also be accepted at this time.

Those traveling on the Hu Ke Lau day trip of next Tuesday, August 2nd, are reminded that the bus shall depart from the Senior Center at approximately 9:15 AM.

 The Tewksbury Police Department will hold its “National Night Out: America’s Night Out Against Crime” at the Senior Center next Tuesday, August 2nd, from 6-9 PM. The theme is: “Family Movie Night”. The Tewksbury Library will provide the 95 minute 20th Century Fox movie “RIO”. The doors to the movie room will open at 7:00 PM and the movie will start at 7:15 PM. Big Top Party Rentals will provide a 10 foot movie screen and popcorn for the occasion; and, Walmart will provide other refreshments. There will be outside tents set up with other activities and as well as tables for information on child ID kits, etc. Why not come on down on this Night Out Against Crime.

 A Cootie Party will be held in August on Monday, August 8th. All are welcome to join in this fun activity. Don’t know how to play? No problem for the Cootie players will be more than happy to explain the game.

For those of you who love Cootie, the following week Valerie Fisher’s Girl Scout project “Cootie for Senior Citizens” which was cancelled last week has been rescheduled for Monday, Aug. 15th. This activity will begin at 1:00 PM. Admission is free and a fun time is on the agenda.

 There will be another Senior Center Yard Sale held on August 20th from 9 AM to 2 PM. Table space is available to the public at $15 per table or $25 for two tables. For more information one may call 978-640-4480 or drop by the Senior Center.

 Dr. Smith will conduct a Podiatry Clinic at the Senior Center on Thursday, August 25th. This clinic will be limited to 30 Tewksbury Senior Citizens and is partially funded by the Council on Aging. A co-payment of $15 is due upon registration. Registrations are now being accepted and are on a first come basis.

 The following trips are scheduled for August; and, tickets are now available:

  • August 8th (Mon.) – Mohegan Sun day trip at $21 per person.
  • August 17th (Weds.) – A trip to Ipswich and the famous “Clam Box of Ipswich” Restaurant. The trip cost is $25 plus lunch on one’s own. A guided bus tour of historic Ipswich is included.
  • August 24th (Weds.) – A trip to Provincetown via the new fast ferry which will get everyone to P-Town in 90 minutes. The trip cost is $85 and includes bus transportation to and from Boston, the fast ferry fee and a 5 hour stay at P-Town. Lunch will be on one’s own.
