Tewksbury Plans September 11 Candlelight Vigil

Event will take place Tuesday at 9/11 Memorial.

Tewksbury will be hosting a Candlelight Vigil Tuesday night, to mark the 11th anniversary of the terrorist attacks of Sept. 11, 2001.

The vigil will take place at the , located next to the at the corner of Chandler and Main Streets.

Tewksbury residents Peter Gay and Peter Hashem were among the 93 Massachusetts residents killed in the attacks. Plaques remembering the two local men are featured in the 9/11 Memorial, while the names of all 93 Massachusetts victims are etched in bricks on the walkway of the monument.

Last year, a was added to the memorial.

The vigil will begin at 7 p.m. and will feature a speech by Larissa Gay, daughter of Peter Gay. Local Boy Scouts will lead the Pledge of Allegiance and music will be provided by the Tewksbury High Band and singer Michael Lally.
