Trips, Special Events and Giant Yard Sale at the Senior Center

As the temperatures cool, things are heating up at the Senior Center.

A Friends Giant Yard Sale will be held at the Senior Center, 175 Chandler Street, this Saturday, September 29th from 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM rain or shine. The yard sale will also include a yummy bake table and luncheon specials. The Upscale Consignment Shop and Snooti Patooti Gift Shop will also be open during the yard sale.

The Upscale Consignment shop will hold its “Intake of Items” day on Monday, October 1st from 3:00 to 7:00 PM. Fall clothing is now being accepted.

The following day trips have been scheduled and tickets are now available:

  • Monday, October 8th: the Salem Cross Inn for lunch with a guided bus tour of the Quabbin Reservoir and a stop at a local farm stand at $58 per person. Departure at 10:00 AM.
  • Tuesday, October 9th: the Foxwood Casino day trip at $21 per person. Departure at 7:00 AM.
  • Wednesday, October 17th: the Country Buffet and Bonworth store in Waltham at $15 per person with lunch on ones own. Departure 10:30 AM.

Those Senior Citizens who are MEMA Volunteers are reminded that there will be a MEMA annual training at the Senior Center on Friday, October 12th at 9:30 AM in the conference room. We ask that you please confirm, with Jan or Linda, that you will be in attendance.

Our Swinging Senior Chorus participants are reminded that rehearsals have resumed on Tuesday afternoons from 4:00 to 5:00 PM. All are welcome to join this group.

The following events will take place in October:

  • Saturday and Sunday, October 13th and 14th – The Piecemakers Quilt Show being held from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM;
  • Thursday, October 11th and 25th – the Mens Group at 9:00 AM...always room for more;
  • Monday, October 15th – the MS Support Group at 10:00 AM;
  • Friday October 19th - the Silvertones Dance - $10
  • Sunday, October 21st – the Edwards Twins Luncheon and Matinee Show 12:00 Noon - $55
  • Wednesday, October 24th – the Red Hat Halloween Party with soup, sandwich & show - $15
  • Friday, October 26th – the Friends Halloween Dance & Costume Contest with music by Boots & Company - $10
  • Saturday, October 27th – a Podiatry Clinic by Dr. Smith at $15 per person with registration required prior to the clinic day;
  • Saturday, October 27th – a Cribbage Tournament which begins at noon - $20 per person; and,
  • Monday, October 29th – a DJ Jon Mansfield afternoon dance with lunch at 11:30. $6

Lee Lewis and his all star review show and dance will take place on Friday, November 2nd. Tickets will be available soon at $15 per person.

Reservations for the November 10th Senior Center Harvest Fair are also being accepted. The price per table is $35 per table or $50 for two tables.
