On Wednesday, April 3 at 7pm, celebrate National Public Health Week at the Tewksbury Public Library by hearing from one of the state’s leaders in public health!  In collaboration with the Public Health Museum, Dr. Alfred DeMaria – State Epidemiologist of the Massachusetts Department of Public Health – will share fascinating tales from our state’s colorful history of infectious diseases.  His talk – “Public Health History in Massachusetts: A Story of Smallpox, Yellow Fever, Cholera, and Tuberculosis” – will include many little-known facts and remarkable stories.  In addition, make sure to check out the Public Health Museum’s upcoming display of historic objects, artifacts and documents in the library’s display cases!  Click HERE to learn more about the Public Health Museum and Dr. Alfred DeMaria by wathcing this short video.  Register HERE.

Tuesday, March 26, 7pm -- Author Visit: Heroin’s Puppet with Melissa Weiksnar (RR)

Meet author Melissa Weiksnar as she discusses her new book: Heroin’s Puppet: Amy (and her disease).  Melissa will discuss her daughter’s six-year battle with substance abuse, which ended tragically from an overdose in rehab, just weeks before her 21st birthday.  Parents are encouraged to bring their middle school and high school students to this powerful drug awareness talk.  Book signing held after talk.  Limited to 100 seats.  Register HERE.

Thursday, March 28, 10:30am -- Basic Internet Class (RR)

The library now offers free computer classes that provide hands-on training to adults.  This class, which will introduce the basics of the internet, will make you more confident when using computers in the library, at work or at home.  Register HERE.

Friday, March 29, 10:30am -- Bicycling Across The World with Denis Beaudry (RR)

Meet local cyclist Denis Beaudry as he shares his astounding adventure in his slideshow presentation – “Bicycling Across The World.”  Last summer, Denis traveled 10,000 miles in four months.  He flew to Spain, biked east all the way to China, then flew to San Francisco and biked home across the United States.  Doors open at 10am for coffee and socializing.  Limited to 100 seats.  Register HERE.

Tuesday, April 23, 7pm -- Online Safety For Teens & Pre-Teens: What Every Parent Needs To Know (RR)

Bring your blankets or sleeping bags and pillows and stretch out on the floor to watch this month’s movie – Wreck-It Ralph (PG, 101 minutes).  You can bring along snacks and drinks, too, if you like.  Proper movie behavior is expected at all times.

Monday, Apirl 1, 10:15am AND 11am -- Tiny Tykes (DI)

Come get your early literacy skills on!  Stories, songs, finger plays, and simple movement makes this the perfect class for fostering an early love for learning and reading, as well as early socialization.  For children ages 0 to 18 months.  Older siblings are always welcome!

Have fun while learning valuable early literacy skills at our story time!  We read stories, sing, dance and more.  For ages 3 to 6.  Older or younger siblings are always welcome!

Wednesday, April 3, 11am -- Bunny Hop Parade (DI)

Come to our parade!  We’ll make a pair of ears to wear so we can all become bunnies, then we’ll practice our bunny hop dances before parading around the library.  For ages 2 to 6.
