How Well Are Tewksbury Teachers Paid Compared to Other Massachusetts Districts?

Boston Business Journal recently compiled a list of teacher salaries from around the state, ranking how well each district pays its educators.

Boston Business Journal recently compiled a list of the average salary Massachusetts teachers receive on a town-by-town basis. So how does Tewksbury rank?

According to the Boston Business Journal story, the median teacher salary among school districts in Fiscal Year 2013 was $69,000, which is up from a median of $61,000 five years previous.

The highest paid teachers in the state work in the Concord-Carlisle school district, where teachers are paid an average salary of $95,947 per year.

Lincoln-Sudbury comes in second on the list, as the Boston Business Journal reported that the district pays its teachers an average of $94,087 per year.

The 248 teachers employed in Tewksbury, meanwhile, have an average salary of $70,593, which is the 156th highest average salary in Massachusetts.

For comparison, Wilmington ranks No. 186 in the state at $68,334, Billerica is No. 196 at $67,940 and Andover comes in at No. 32 at $80,529. Lowell is also on the higher side, with 984 teachers making an average of $78,852, which is 41st in the state.
