Prom, Graduation on the Horizon for TMHS Students

Several events are approaching that will close out the 2013-14 school year for Tewksbury Memorial High School students.

Just under a month remains in the 2013-14 school year. But there is still plenty of excitement left for Tewksbury Memorial High School students.

Several annual end of year events will take place over the next several years, culminating with graduation ceremonies and the end of the school year.

On Thursday, the school will celebrate accomplished graduating seniors with the Academic Excellence Award Breakfast at 8 a.m. inside the cafeteria.

The breakfast is held for students who earned a grade point average of 3.6 or higher. There are three levels of excellence that can be earned - Cum Laude, Magna Cum Laude and Summa Cum Laude.

Following the breakfast, the students who earned these honors will be awarded medals in the Christine L. McGrath Performing Arts Center.

Next up for seniors is the pre-prom promenade and prom, which are scheduled for Tuesday, June 3.

The promenade starts at 4 p.m. in the Performing Arts Center. Family, friends and the public are invited to come to the school as a way to meet and take pictures with prom-goers before they head to the big night.

Senior Prom will take place that night at Danversport Yacht Club from 6-11 p.m.

And of the course, the day seniors have been looking forward to will take place on Friday, June 6, at 6 p.m.

That is when seniors will graduate during the school's 79th commencement ceremony. The ceremony will take place in the Tewksbury Memorial High School gym.

Editor's Note: This article has been corrected to indicate that prom is Tuesday, June 3, not Thursday, June 3, as was initially indicated.
