Tewksbury Girls Tennis Cruises Past Wilmington

The Lady Redmen earned a 4-1 win on a sunny Tuesday afternoon.

The Tewksbury Memorial High School girls tennis team had no troubles dispatching of rival Wilmington, earning an easy victory on Tuesday afternoon.

No. 1 singles player Kylie Sedgewick set the tone with a 6-2, 6-1, straight sets victory, and her fellow Redmen followed suit as they snagged a 4-1 win.

At No. 2 singles, Lauren Joseph was a winner in three sets. She dropped the opening set, 7-5, but bounced back with a 6-3, 6-1, finish to defeat Wilmington's Erin Hurley.

Haley Tiernan, a sophomore, earned a straight set win of her own, beating Christina D'Ambrosio, 6-1, 6-2.

In No. 1 doubles, the Lady Wildcats earned their only win of the day in three sets. But Tewksbury's doubles pairing at No. 2 bounced back from an opening set loss by winning the next two sets, 6-2, 6-4.
