Tewksbury Graduates Urged to 'Use Your Brain, Homie, Do The Right Thing'

Tewksbury's Superintendent of Schools had a lighthearted, but meaningful message to the Class of 2014.

Pomp, circumstance... and Ludacris. The Class of 2014 has officially graduated from Tewksbury Memorial High School.

A variety of speakers addressed this year's graduates, including SUperintendent of Schools John E. O'Connor, who quoted none other than rapper and entertainer Ludacris.

"Use your brain, homie, do the right thing," O'Connor said with a smile, quoting the Ludacris song called Do the Right Thing.

Also speaking on the evening was Principal Brenda Theriault-Regan, who asked for a moment of silence for Shane Roderick, a Tewksbury Memorial High School student who passed away unexpectedly earlier this year.

"I have faith that Shane's spirit is with us, and he's smiling that special Shane smile right now," Theriault-Regan said.

Among this year's graduates, a total of 39 percent graduated with honors, recognized by wearing medals during the ceremony.
