Tewksbury High Honors Valedictorians, Top 10 In The Class of 2012

Two students finished in a tie for the top spot in the class.

There will be no salutatorian in the Tewksbury Memorial High Class of 2012.

The school isn't doing away with the tradition. Rather, the top two students in the class finished in a flat-footed tie for the No. 1 ranking.

Valedictorian Keon Horahan -- The son of Colin and Heidi Horahan, Keon recorded a perfect score on the MCAS Mathematics, SAT II Math Level II and SAT U.S. History. In addition to being an exceptional scholar, Keon has been a member of the Redmen track and cross country teams. He also has a long history as a volunteer. He will attend Clemson University with a major in Biological Sciences.

Valedictorian CJ Sutherland -- The son of Nancy and Scot Sutherland, CJ recorded a score of 5 on the AP US History Exam, 5 on the AP Biology Exam and a total SAT score of 2200. He served as Class President for his junior and senior years. He has been a member of the Redmen indoor and outdoor track teams. CJ will attend Harvard University where he will major in government and Middle Eastern studies.

Class Marshal Laura Patriarca -- Laura is the daughter of Dodi and Lou Patriarca. She is president of the Chemistry Club and vice president of the Chorus. She recorded a total SAT score of 2090 and an ACT score of 31. She was MVP of the Cross Country team and won the D3 State Championship in cross country as a junior. Laura will attend Stonehill College and major in Biochemistry in the Honors program.

No. 4 Rebecca Clark -- Rebecca is the daughter of Barry and Mary Clark. Among her other academic achievements, Rebecca scored 2180 in the SATs and a perfect score in the MCAS English exam. She has been an all-star member of the track and field team and is a member of the Classical League and Echo Club. Rebecca will attend UMass Amherst with a major in civil engineering.

No. 5 Esther Ou -- Esther is the daughter of James and Susan Ou. Among her academic achievements, Esther recorded a perfect score of 5 on the AP U.S. History and Biology tests. She is an accomplished artist, earning several awards. She is also a figure skater, dancer and pianist, as well as a member of the Junior Classical League and the Redmen Tennis team. Esther will attend Eckerd College with an undeclared major.

No. 6 Sarah Hogan -- Sarah is the daughter of Mike and Sue Hogan.  An exceptional student-athlete, Sarah has been an all-star and captain of the indoor and outdoor track teams. She has also been a member of the Redmen field hockey team. She has shown great leadership as the co-president of the National Honor Society and treasurer of the Student Council. She has also been a member of DECA and ECHO. Sarah will attend UMass-Amherst with a major in Nursing.

No. 7 Mark Daley -- Mark is the son of Karen and Robert Daley. He has made Principal's list in his sophomore, junior and senior school years and achieved a perfect score on the MCAS Math and the AP U.S. History and Latin exams. An excellent leader, Mark has served as co-president of the National Honor Society, and Class Council Representative, as well as a member of the Junior Classical League, Mock Trial and DECA. He has also been a member of the Redmen track, soccer and baseball teams. Mark will attend Harvard University with a major in Government.

No. 8 Natasha Kuegler -- Natasha is the daughter of Lisa and Eric Kuegler. Among her academic achievements, she is a member of the National Honor Society, has earned 15 Renaissance Gold Cards and had a perfect score on the MCAS math exam. She has been involved in the Choir, Junior Classical League and Chemistry Club. Natasha has been a four-year member of the Redmen tennis team and is a volunteer with several organizations. Natahsa will attend the University of New Haven with a major in Chemistry and Forensic Science.

No. 9 Emily Fugate -- Emily is the daughter of Gary and Eugenia Fugate. She has made the Principal's List and Honor Roll and achieved a perfect score on the MCAS Math exam. A strong leader, Emily has served as historian for the National Honor Society, Secretary for the Class Council, Student Council Representative and co-president of the International Club. She is a softball player, tennis player and equestrian, as well as a volunteer with several local organizations. Emily will attend UMass-Amherst with a major in Pre-Veterinary Medicine.

No. 10 Jordyn LeBlanc -- Jordyn is the daughter of Dixie LeBlanc. Among her other academic achievements, she has made Principal's list for all four years of high school. She achieved a score of 1860 on the SATs and is a member of both the National Honor Society and Student Council. An excellent athlete, Jordyn has been captain of the Redmen soccer team and has also competed as a member of the tennis and gymnastics teams. She has volunteered with several local organizations, including TOPS Soccer. Jordyn will attend the University of New England with a major in Marine Science.
