Boys Basketball Season Ends Versus New Mission in Quarterfinal

The Redmen put together a strong campaign, but it came to an end on Tuesday night.

A stellar season by the Tewksbury Memorial High School boys basketball team came to a close on Tuesday night as the locals were unable to overcome top-seeded New Mission.

Tewksbury hung close in the North Division 2 quarterfinal and kept the game at single digits into the half. But New Mission pulled away slightly in the fourth quarter, advancing with a 66-53 win.

Thanks to the victory, New Mission advanced to the semifinal round against Lynn Classical. That game will take place on Thursday at 7 p.m. in Malden. 

Tewksbury, meanwhile, saw its season come to an end with a record of 14-8. The Redmen's 2013-14 resume includes a regular season league title.

The Redmen earned the No. 8 seed in the tournament and toppled Arlington, 74-63, in the first round before falling to New Mission.
