Bring The Stanley Cup to Tewksbury!

Tell us why you believe the Bruins show make sure Lord Stanley's treasured trophy should make a stop in Tewksbury this summer.

Give credit where credit is due.

Matt Schooley, the esteemed editor of our sister publication, Wilmington Patch, has launched a public relations campaign to try and convince the Boston Bruins that at some point over the next few months, the Stanley Cup should be brought to Wilmington, or more specifically, Ristuccia Rink, for a public viewing.

As Matt points out, tradition dictates that the players, coaches and staff have the chance to spend at least a day with Lord Stanley's hallowed trophy, bringing it anywhere they would like.

And we certainly agree that The Cup should be seen and touched and photographed by as many fans as possible. But my dear friend Matt is wrong on one key point. If the Cup is going to make an appearance in the Merrimack Valley, then it must, of course, appear at the in  TEWKSBURY!

Now, don't get me wrong. Wilmington is a nice enough little hamlet and I've even been known to grab a burger at Sonic. But the key phrase here is that the Bruins are Stanley Cup Champions. And of course, the Bruins should make sure the Cup is surrounded by other champions. Say, for example, the Division 2 State Hockey Champion Tewksbury High Redmen!

Not to mention the fact that Bruins equipment manager Keith Robinson is a graduate of ... wait for it ... !

So here's the deal folks. It's time to show your support for an effort to convince the Bruins and their staff that the Stanley Cup needs to make an appearance in Tewksbury.

In the comments section below, tell the Bruins and their staff what kind of hockey fans we have here in Tewksbury. Tell them how badly you want the Cup brought to town and what type of a reception it will get here. In short, convince them that Tewksbury is a "Must-Stop"

You can also email your convincing arguments to williamg@patch.com

Post your comments no later than 9 p.m. on Wednesday, June 22 and we will forward all your comments and emails to the Bruins.
