Girls' Hoops Eliminated, London Wrestles Well At New Englands

The winter sports season has officially come to an end for Tewksbury High.

Chris London firmly established himself as one of the top wrestlers in the region, winning three matches in the 170-pound Division at the New England Championships over the weekend.

with a 3-1 win over Alex Cusano of Connecticut, before running into a buzzsaw in the form of Christopher Chorzepa. The Connecticut State Champ dominated London in a 13-2 win. But London was hardly Chorzepa's only victim. He went undefeated to win the New England Championship, rolling over

Meanwhile, London dropped into the consolation bracket and pinned Robert Bernard of New Hampshire in the first round. He followed that up by pinning Nicholas Bishop of Maine in the first round.

London's season and high school career ended in his next match, a 6-0 loss to Geoffrey Grant of Vermont. Grant wound up placing fourth in the tournament.

Girls' Basketball Eliminated By North Andover

Tewksbury High never quite got out of the gate in a 52-34 loss to North Andover in the opening round of the Girls Division 2 North Regional Tournament on Friday.

The Scarlet Knights used a tenacious defense and jumped out to a 28-4 halftime lead and coasted home. North Andover was led by Morgan Lumb with 22 points.

Shannon Semenza had eight points and Sara Semenza added seven to lead Tewksbury, which ends its season at 9-12.
