More Hardware For London; Redmen Take 8th At Methuen Invitational

added yet another piece of hardware to his extensive collection Saturday afternoon, winning four straight matches and taking first place in the 170-pound division at the Methuen Invitational Tournament held at Lawrence High.

London's four wins improve his perfect 2011-2012 record to 32-0. The Redmen senior captain has now captured the championship in four straight tournaments; the , the , the l and the Methuen Invitational.

in the talented, 19-team field, behind some top-notch wrestling super powers like Mt. Anthony of Vermont (1st), top-ranked Methuen (2nd) and North Andover (3rd).

London pinned two of his four opponents in the first round, won another bout by default and took a 16-6 major decision over Salem's Phil Smith in the championship bout.

Two other Tewksbury wrestlers finished fourth in their weight classes. Senior 182-pounder Derek Tarpey won four matches, including two by pinfall, to take fourth at 182. Senior 160-pounder Mike Davidian won three matches, including two by pinfall, to take fourth at 160. Senior Dan Altavesta was sixth at 152 pounds, winning two matches along the way.

The Redmen wrap up the dual meet segment of their 2011-2012 at Billerica on Wednesday before competing in the Division 2 North Sectional Tournament next Saturday.
