Redmen Can't Complete Comeback, Eliminated by Fenwick, 2-1

Furious comeback falls just short in tournament loss.

In field hockey a two-goal deficit can sometimes feel like 100.

That's the position the 6th seeded Tewksbury High field hockey team found itself in Thursday, as they faced Bishop Fenwick at home in the opening round of the Division 2 North Sectional Tournament.

The Redmen spotted Fenwick a 2-0 lead before mounting a ferocious second-half charge. The first goal came on a penalty stroke after a scramble in front of the Tewksbury cage.

Ashley Kelly scored from Hayley Sutherland with about 10 minutes left in the game to cut the deficit to 2-1. Tewksbury kep the heat on for the rest of the gme but couldn't net the equalizer.

Redmen goalie Riley Ryan played a monster game, turning aside 21 shots. Nicole DePierro abd Cassidy Russell also played well, as Tewksbury wrapped up its season at 11-4-4.
