Surging Boys Basketball One Win From League Title

Tewksbury can do no worse than a share of the Merrimack Valley regular season title.

The Tewksbury High School boys basketball team is heading to the postseason. But before they get to that point, the Redmen can add one more item to their playoff resume - league champs.

Thanks to a 69-43 victory Wednesday over Haverhill, Tewksbury can do no worse than a share of the Merrimack Valley League Small School Division regular season title.

On Monday night against last place Dracut, which has only one win on the year, the Redmen can clinch the title outright.

Tewksbury is 11-7 overall with a record of 8-5 in league play. That mark is good for first place, ahead of second place Chelmsford High School.

The locals haven't taken home a league title since 1994. When Dracut and Tewksbury played on January 10, it was the Redmen who ran away with a 71-52 victory.

Monday's potential league title clinching contest will be held on Tewksbury's home court.
