Tewksbury 7th Grade Blue 32 Wilmington 27

Tewksbury’s first game of the weekend was a real nail biter vs Wilmington. Wilmington came out aggressively and established a quick 4 point lead, but heads up plays on both the offensive and defensive ends of the court from Tewksbury resulted in a lead of 8-6 just 4 minutes into the game. Ameen Kalkhoran, David Stein, Nick Zullo (4 points), Connor Dane (2 points) and Ethan Trudeau (2 points) all contributed key hoops, but Wilmington stepped up its defense late in the half. The teams battled on both ends, with Wilmington taking a 14-12 lead at the half.

The second half of the game mirrored the first half until late in the game. Tewksbury had been down 5 points, but with just 4 minutes left in the game, tenacious defense and aggressive offense by Ameen (12 points), David (6 points), Andrew Pacheco, Conner Dane and Corey Indelicato (6 points) led to a 27-27 tie with only 2 minutes remaining. Tewksbury basically shut down Wilmington at that point, stealing the ball several times and converting the turnovers into easy layups. Tewksbury won by a final score of 32-27.
