Thanks to an easy Friday night win over Masconomet, the Tewksbury boys hockey team is within sight of a berth in the North Division 2 title game. But before the Redmen get that far, another task awaits.
Tewksbury cruised to a 4-1 victory on Friday night to set up a meeting with Marblehead in the bracket semifinal.
Pat Leonard opened the scoring for the locals, giving his team a 1-0 edge just over three minutes into play.
Then, with four seconds left in the first period, Mark Gorman put home a momentum stealing goal to make it 2-0 heading to the intermission.
In the second period, Dario Riparo cracked the scorebook as he made it 3-0 and essentially put the game away.
The semifinal game is slated for Monday night at 6 p.m. on the ice of Chelmsford Forum. The winner of that game will take on either Beverly or Lincoln-Sudbury on March 10 with a state title berth on the line.
