Tewksbury Boys Soccer Team Wins Mass Cup

The U12 team brought home the hardware in the event designed to provide teams with a second chance at the postseason.

Tewksbury took the pitch during the Mass Cup, a tournament hosted in town with more than 50 teams of various ages. And one Tewksbury team showed the visiting teams just how it's done.

The Tewksbury boys U12 team earned a championship Sunday in the Mass Cup, which is designed to bring in teams from throughout the region who missed their league's playoffs.

Tewksbury's championship team started the tournament with wins over Somerville and a second Tewksbury team on Saturday, while losing once to Melrose. 

But on Sunday, the locals earned revenge on Melrose in the title game, coming away with a 3-0 win.

Members of Tewksbury's title winning team are Tommy Branchaud, Joey Branchaud, Chris Melo, Michael Dell Orfano, Arya Mehrabani, Nabil Barkallah, Sean Cunningham, Thomas Barinelli, Liam Cafferty, Tyler Demers and Noah Fleming.

Tewksbury was led by head coach Lou Barinelli and assistant coach John Demers.
