Junior Trap Shooting Program Holds Awards Ceremony

Tewksbury Rod and Gun Club program just completed its fourth season.

(Editor's note: The following information was submitted by the Tewksbury Rod and Gun Club.)

This junior trap shooting program has just completed its' fourth season.
These kids did an outstanding job representing at
various state shoots and other events. They participated in the Baystate
Games again this year and shooters were awarded ribbons and medals for their
individual accomplishments on the trap field.

This program was undertaken in 2009 with past head coach Joe Colbert, and
coaches Steve Stella & Wally Bristol.  Today we have three coaches, as well
as adult volunteers to assist us in keeping the program moving ahead.  Head
coach Steve Stella, along with coach Wally Bristol and coach Mike Capozzi
oversee the team.  Adult volunteer Dale Shultz maintains the weekly
statistics of all scoring for team records keeping.

Last year we were fortunate to have some sponsors step up to help us and our
shooting families with some of the expenses that a team such as this
encounters.  This kept our costs per shooter as low as possible, while
allowing us to buy team clothing, some added ammo, optional event target
fees, and other items without burdening the team families.  Our aim is to
help every child participate more fully and enjoy the experience.

Our 2012 season sponsors were Kittery Trading Post, Kittery, ME; MidWay USA
(SCTP Endowment Grant); Gun Owners Action League (a generous grant toward a
new target thrower); K's U-Haul, Haverhill, MA; Spartan Pizza, Lowell, MA;
and T-Square Drafting Service, Wilmington, MA. With the financial support of
these companies we were able to also pay the costs of shooting the
(optional) New Hampashire and Maine State Shoots, thus saving our families
hundreds of dollars in optional or extra cost for their childs
participation. We thank all of our sponsors for their generosity.

We are in the planning stages for the 2013 Tewksbury SCTP season at this
writing.  I know it will be another exciting year for our team. There will
be new challenges for each of them as they earn their individual rank
patches.

I would add that we are seeking new kids who may be interested in joining
our program next year.  Coaches can be contacted thru e-mail links located
on our club web-page. http://www.tewksburyrodandgun.org/SCTP/sctp.htm

We will be holding an SCTP family informational meeting in February 2013.
To be eligible a child must be in a Primary / Elementary, Middle, Junior or
Senior High School (not graduated) or home schooled and not have reached
their 19th birthday.  If you wish to be added to the invitation list for
this meeting, e-mail me Coach_Wally@Tewksburyrodandgun.org to be included.
