Despite the early start the Warriors came ready to play using a balanced team effort to pull away from a tough Spurs team in the second half.  Ryan Melo led the team in scoring with a mix drives and jump shots to put 10 points on the board.  Luke McFadyen, Travis Cohen and Sean Kaiser chipped in 4 points apiece as they swarmed the net all game long.  Bryan “Big Country” Doherty and Will McFadyen added 3 points each and Sreetej Digmurthi knocked down a jumper for his 2 points.  The Warriors dominated on the boards all game limiting the Spurs chances and generating extra offensive possessions.  Cohen lead the team with 11 rebounds and the team got strong contributions from Luke McFadyen and Doherty.  Dylan Crowley lead the another outstanding passing game with 2 assists off of inbound plays, setting his teammates up for uncontested layups.  Will McFadyen was a defensive demon picking up 11 steals and getting help from Digmurthi, Kaiser and Melo in denying the Spurs any open passing lanes.

The Spurs fell behind early on and were never really able to catch to the Warriors. Offensive standouts for the Spurs were Dylan Dufresne (6), Matthew Woods (4), Ryan Rosenberg (2) and Daedon Bere (1). There were excellent efforts put forth by Trevor Trodden, Kyle Breen, Samuel Hines and Charles Matsas throughout the game.  The Spurs are looking to rebound next week against the Wizards

Wizards 34 – Sixers 12

The Wizards jumped out to a quick lead scoring 12 points in the first quarter led by Ethan Exilhomme with 5 steals and 8 points in the quarter (12 for the game). Jason Donaher had a great game shooting (12 points) with David Miller (6 points) and Colin Fullerton (4 points) contributing on the scoreboard. With only six players on the bench, the Sixers gave a tremendous effort but could not stop the fast breaking Wizards from scoring.  Leading the Sixers was Robert Ryan with 5 points, Logan Reinhard with 4, Paul Spanos and Damien Hadden with 2 and 1 point respectively.  Aidan Crawson and Jonathan Spanos came up huge defensively with 1 steal, and solid rebounding throughout the game.

Lakers 24 – Celtics 18

A classic rivalry in the Junior division today with the Celtics taking on the Lakers.  Both Teams were short players due to school vacation so the attack started slow with Nick Polimeno scoring the only 2 pts. of the 1st quarter. Both teams continued to play great man-to-man and zone defense.  Nick Polimeno, Lee Ghannam and James Ministeri kept the Celtics out of the scoring lane with great rebounding and ball control.

Mike Wilson (8 pts) and Sean Fahey (14 pts) would control the floor for the Lakers ending the half at 8-8.  The 3rd quarter started slow again neither team wanting to outpace themselves.  Jack Stadtman and Nick Wilson would keep up the defensive control with good man-to-man and zone coverage.  Mike Wilson would add 4 points and make the score 12-12 at the end of the 3rd.  The 4th quarter came out fast with both teams running the floor with good passing. Sean Fahey would put on 12 pts this quarter to keep the Lakers out front for good with great man-to-man from Mike Wilson, Nick Polimeno, and James Ministeri.

The Celtics were shorthanded but did manage to play a good game with almost all their players on hand for the day playing the entire game.  All players fought hard for rebounds and everyone came up with big rebounds.  Leading the Celtics in Scoring was Aiden Grogan with 8 points, Justin Lucarotti with 4 points, Cameron Lameroux with 4 points, Logan Auth with 2 points and Derek Munroe with 2. Brady Johnson played a strong game but could not get the ball to drop in the basket.

Cavs 22 – Mavericks 20

Another great game by both the Mavericks and the Cavs with the lead seeming  to change constantly right up to the end.   With 5 seconds left Logan Frost hit a layup to seal the victory for the Cavs.  Frost also had scoring help from Shayne Macdonald, Joey Arsenault, Justin Charlton, and Tyler Leeds.  Dhruv Kaushal and John Cucinotta led the way in an outstanding defensive effort .

Bucks 47 – Bobcats 42

Close game on Saturday between the Bucks and Bobcats. Bobcats played tough and hung in the game until the final minutes despite only having 6 players. Good defense and guard play by Danny Carter, Mike Flynn, and Nick Heinze forced turnovers that led to points on the other end. John Kenney rebounded well in the paint while Ryan Nickerson had a couple of key bucks late in the fourth quarter. Damian Dugan led all scorers with 34 points.

Hornets 45 – Rockets 34

The Hornets faced with an early start time were sluggish for most of the game, and it clearly was shown on the scoreboard as they put up their lowest point total all season. The Rockets gave them a challenge and the score was neck and neck through three quarters until the Hornets came alive in the fourth, and pulled out the win. The Hornets centers out rebounded the Rockets and took control of the game late. Center Ben Connors was unstoppable and dropped in 15 points leading the team. It was his second straight game with a total in the high teens. The teams other center, Robert Page, followed with 13 points and dominated on the boards. Leo Frisella worked himself inside through the defense and dropped in 6 points. Daniel DeRosa’s defense helped Matty McLaughlin add in 5 points, and Nolan Higgins 4 more. Defensive stops by Nick Borges, Brendan Murray, and Sam Fortier held the Rockets at bay during the final minutes, and led to Derek Steinbrechers 2 points, rounding out the scoring for the team.

Hornets 55 – Blazers 32

In their second makeup game of the weekend, the Hornets came out strong and stung the Blazers early. Dominating from the first quarter, the entire team contributed to the win. Shaking off a pre-game injury Guard Matty McLaughlin chalked up several assists with crisp passing to his open teammates, and dropped in 14 points of his own. As he has done all season, Leo Frisella used his power and muscled his way to the hoop to add in 12 points. The Hornets’ two centers followed with their exceptional rebounding. Robert Page (11 points) and Ben Connors (10 points) were both unstoppable inside. Assisted by Daniel DeRosa, Nolan Higgins (4 points) broke free along the sidelines and added in a fast break layup, as well as two more from the foul line. Derek Steinbrecher set up Brendan Murray for 2 points on another full court fast break, and Sam Fortier’s aggressiveness to maintain ball possession led to 2 points by Nick Borges, rounding out the team’s total. The Hornets finish the first half of the season with an impressive 5 – 1 record, outscoring their opponents by an average of 14 points / game, by totaling an average of 53 points / game and giving up an average of 39 points / game.
